When using forklift attachments, there are a few safety measures you can follow to best preserve the security of your employees and your workplace. Firstly, prior to their use, it is vital that all employees are appropriately trained on how to use forklifts, as well as on how to fit, operate and remove any attachments they may need. Secondly, it is required that forklift fork extensions do not exceed the lengths of the forks on which they are installed by more than 50%. Since the centre of gravity has been shifted and there is more weight being placed in front of the fulcrum point of the forklift, it is recommended that you travel at a slow speed and gently make turns when working with fork extensions. Finally, you should always verify that the data plate on the forklift allows for the use of an attachment.
